Overall Objective: To assist Trinidad and Tobago to better comply with its international obligations related to secret company ownership disclosure and the disclosure by public officials of their holdings in the oil, gas and mining sectors.  The campaign also aims to deter tax evasion, white-collar crime and terrorist financing.
Specific Objectives:

  • To increase public and civil society awareness of the benefits from the disclosure of BOs and politically exposed persons (PEPs)
  • To increase Parliamentarians capacity and willingness to enact and implement BO Disclosure laws
  • To increase all companies’ willingness and capacity to disclose their Beneficial Owners (i.e. both extractive and non-extractive sector companies).

This project, the first of its kind in T&T, involves a mix of face-to-face sensitization presentations to Parliamentarians, civil society workshops, an information session, the distribution of BO information kits to extractive companies, public participatory theatre performances and media promotion targeted to the general public.
