Project overview
The objective of this project is to improve disaster preparedness and response of 10 000 beneficiaries in Mokhotlong and Qacha's Nek, especially the most vulnerable populations, that include, children, women, the elderly, people with disabilities, and vulnerable recipients of government social grants.
The project is supported by the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).
Drones are used to gather data in the mountainous terrain of rural Lesotho and that data is used to draw maps of disaster-prone areas to be used in Community Disaster Preparedness Plans (CDPP). Government representatives at various levels and members of the emergency and development community structures will use this data to better prepare for and better respond to disasters.
