Brilliant, dazzling, invigorating, frenergetic: The Frenergy Tour captivates audiences in Canada

26/11/2019 - 23:30

The Delegation of the European Union to Canada had the great honour to welcome the Frenergy Tour to Canada in November 2019, the first-ever concert tour to bring together the fantastic musicians of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (NYOC).

Viennese conductor Sascha Goetzel led the four full-house concerts at Toronto's Koerner Hall on 12 November, Kingston's Isabel Bader Centre on 13 November, the Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal on 14 November, and Ottawa's National Arts Centre on 17 November. Fast-rising violinist and NYO Canada alumnus Blake Pouliot performed as guest soloist.

It was an unforgettable musical journey and a remarkable celebration of friendship and music. The musicians' invigorating interpretation of music by Rossini, Ravel, Saint-Saëns, Stravinsky, Wagner, and by Canadian composer John Estacio’s Frenergy for orchestra, drew tremendous praise and applause at each stop.

The Delegation of the European Union to Canada is privileged to partner with the EUYO and the NYO of Canada in our shared efforts to give young musicians an opportunity to showcase their exceptional talent, while supporting the arts community at large. The Montreal concert raised funds for l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal’s educational programme, La musique aux enfants, which benefits children between the ages 4 and 5 by giving them the opportunity to take music classes.

The Frenergy Tour serves as a prime example of how music brings us closer as a society and helps us better understand each other - a celebration of youths in harmony, music without borders, cultures without walls and friendships that last a lifetime.
