Waste, all around us, and marine litter, in particular, is a global challenge. As a result, EU embassies and UN regional offices around the world, as well as the European Commission Representations throughout the EU, organize beach clean-up events every year, with local organizations, schools and other partners.
The World (Beach) Clean-Up Day in Madagascar took place on 21 September 2019. The EU Delegation, including the Ambassador and all his staff, focused on the outskirts of the Marais Masay.
The team of "Let's do it Madagascar!" was responsible for coordination and animation. More than 25 sites on the Big Island have been cleaned. Several other institutions responded and helped the EU delegation. "We share the love of our blue planet, and we all have the responsibility to make it and keep it healthy, through cleaning, recycling and prevention. Let's show the world what we can do" - said HE Giovanni DI GIROLAMO, Ambassador of the European Union to Madagascar."
