Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations visited the Republic of Moldova to reinforce EU support for the country
Christian Danielsson, European Commission Director General for European Neighbourhood Policy visited the Republic of Moldova Chisinau, during 16 and 17 September, to reaﬃrm the EU's commitment to support the reform efforts of the Government led by Prime Minister Sandu to deliver tangible beneﬁts to the Moldovan citizens.
During his two-day visit to Chisinau, Mr Danielsson met with Prime Minister Maia Sandu, President Igor Dodon, as well as the Speaker of the Parliament, Zinaida Greceanîi, to discuss the EU’s support to the government’s important reform path.
During the visit, Mr Danielsson, said: "The EU's support to the Republic of Moldova is focused on bringing tangible benefits to the lives of citizens across the country. Since the Sandu Government took office, the EU has seen genuine political will to address reforms in areas which directly impact people’s lives, such as the fight against corruption, electoral reform.”
Mr Danielsson has also given a public speech to business representatives and civil society organisations at the European Business Association to recall the EU's commitment to support Moldova’s reform to build an economy that works for the Moldovan people and to uphold values and the rule of law.
The visit was also an occasion to hold a public discussion between the EU, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, and civil society representatives to exchange views on the future of the Eastern Partnership.
