Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values at the UN in Geneva?

What we offer?

A traineeship of 5 months within the Disarmament Section of the EU Delegation to the UN in Geneva, starting as from November 2019.

Main tasks:

Interns are fully integrated in the daily work of the section, providing the intern with the possibility of getting a good overview of the diplomatic work of the Delegation and in particular in the policy field covered by the section.
Under the supervision and following instructions of the Head of Section (supervisor) the intern will:

  • Assist the Head of Section and Section colleagues in their daily work in relation to UN and other multilateral meetings in the area of disarmament
  • This will entail such tasks as (i) assist in the preparation of meetings (ii) drafting reports following meetings and conferences (iii) assist in the preparation of official visits, and (iv) general logistics support.

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Excellent drafting skills in English, knowledge of French would be a strong advantage. 
  • Knowledge of the workings of the European Union and of the United Nations would be advantages, as well as interest in security policy issues.

Important information

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
