The Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO) of the European Commission published on 9th July the Call for proposal to support inclusive and responsible Digital Financial projects that can benefit people living in poverty and entrepreneurs (in particular women and youth). The main objective is to make the EU and its partner countries work in partnership and empower citizens to overcome digital transformation. The Call for proposal will support both partnerships to promote policy and regulatory environment and innovative and scalable digital financial solutions.
This initaitve is set up under the Intra-ACP programme and it will build upon the implementation of the European Commission Digital for Development strategy. Furthermore, with regard to the African continent, it will build on the strategic partnerships set up under the New Africa Europe Alliance for Sustainable Investment and Jobs, the EU- AU Digital Economy Task Force reccomendations and on the work set up under the External Investment Plan (EIP).
The recently published Call for proposal is open to applicants from Africa, Carrebean, Pacific and European countries. Applications must be submitted in acccordance with the conditions and timetable defined in the Call for proposal DEVCO/161-066. For both lots, partnerships must include at least one applicant, either the lead applicant or a co-applicant, established in each of the regions where the action will take place in order to ensure geographical coverage among the ACP regions selected for the action. The deadline for submission of applications is 1 October 2019 at 12:00 (noon) Brussels time.
