EUAM Iraq welcomes the first expert from Canada to join the Mission as part of the agreement with contributing Third States (non-EU Member States).

On 17 June, Richard Brown from the Ontario Provincial Police deployed through the Royal Canadian Mounted Police International Peace Support Operations Program arrived in Baghdad. He will work as the senior adviser on Counter-Terrorism.

Canada is one of the closest and longest-standing partners of the European Union. In November 2005, the European Union and Canada concluded an agreement establishing a framework for Canada's participation in EU crisis management operations.

As of today, there are 16 ongoing CSDP operations worldwide with around 5000 deployed personnel.

The mission expresses its gratitude to the Canadian government for the support and wishes our new colleague the very best for a successful tour of duty in Iraq.
