The European Union Delegation to the Republic of Malawi is looking for
Temporary Press and Information Officer

The European Union (EU) is offering a temporary post of Press and Information Officer in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI) of the Delegation, under the authority of the Head of Delegation (HoD).
Under the guidance and supervision of the Head of Political Section, the PIO develops and manages all Delegation traditional and social media activities. These include managing the Delegation social media and coordination of all delegation-generated social media outreach activities. The PIO provides media support to the Delegation and sometimes project implementers, drafts monthly political reports, press releases/op-eds/talking points, and obtains media coverage for EU activities; plans and implements Public Diplomacy engagement programs on various themes; maintains contacts in the media, government, NGOs and relevant political contacts to keep the Head of Delegation and Political Officer appraised of events and to advise the proper course of action;
Detailed description of duties:
Qualifications:
University degree, in Journalism, Political Studies or any related field is required.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years experience working in political analysis, journalism or a similar relevant work environment
Knowledge of IT Tools:
Proficiency in ICT (knowledge of the whole Microsoft Office packages and video/photo editing packages) required.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews on Friday 21st June 2019. Candidates who have not been contacted by Monday 24th June 2019 should consider that there is no follow-up to their application and the EU Delegation will not further advise unsuccessful candidates.
The vacancy is for a temporary contract of 4.5 months.
