EUAM Iraq celebrated yesterday the opening of the Joint Coordination Center (JCC) building in the Ministry of Interior (MoI). The construction work of the building started in October last year. The building will serve as a workspace for EUAM Iraq advisers working in the MoI on a daily basis. It will also be used as a venue for workshops and other events.

Colonel Hamid Kadhim, the Head of Engineering Department at the MoI and Mr.Omar Shakir, the CEO of the construction company Alrawsham General Construction & Trading handed over the ceremonial key to Dr. Markus Ritter, the Head of Mission of EUAM Iraq.

The building was offered to EUAM Iraq in May 2018 by the Senior Deputy Minister Dr. Aqeel. On 6 June 2018 an official agreement was signed by the two parties.

- EUAM Iraq is the only international organisation that is now embedded in the MoI and has been offered a building in the premises. This shows a great trust and willingness to cooperate from our Iraqi counterparts. The building will also be used as a place for meetings with our international partners, Ritter states.

The official inauguration ceremony of the JCC building will take place in July.
