Launching the 9 May Europe Day celebrations, the European Union Delegation in Geneva and the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union organized on Thursday 2 May a special concert performed by the Orchestre des Nations, that gathered diplomatic representatives and UN organisations from more than 90 countries, as well as habitants of Geneva.

Ambassador Walter Stevens, Head of the EU Delegation to the United Nations in Geneva, highlighted in his opening words the crucial importance of the multilateral cooperation between states in order to address common challenges, especially "in Geneva, the beacon and the capital of multilateral cooperation on the European continent".

"The European Union believes in multilateral cooperation, in a rules-based international system with a strong UN at its core and we will continue to endeavour and fight for it.  It is now more necessary than ever before," mentioned Ambassador Stevens.

The prestigious concert of the Orchestre des Nations, conducted by Mr. Antoine Marguier, and with the participation of the talented Romanian pianist Mr. Matei Varga, was a great success and unanimously acclaimed.
