Traineeships in Delegations

Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Ukraine?

What we offer?

A traineeship of 4 months for within the in the Operations Section Governance and Rule of Law of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, starting on
1 June 2019.

The Section is in charge of managing projects in the above areas as well as Public Administration Reform, Public Finance Management Reform, Migration and Border management, Security sector Reform, Electoral assistance, Anti-Corruption Reforms, etc.

Main tasks:

  • Participate in policy discussions and project meetings and report on them
  • Support Project Managers in the monitoring of project activities
  • Support in the formulation and identification of new projects
  • Contribute to briefings, reporting and speech writing

Qualifications or special requirements (an asset):

  • Bachelor degree in political science, economics, law or related field;
  • Very good command of spoken and written English;
  • Very good command of Word, Powerpoint, Excel;
  • Very good analytical capacity;
  • Proven interest for EU affairs and neighbourhood policies
  • Proven networking and writing skills;
  • Good command of Ukrainian and/or Russian language;
  • Exposure to governance topics through i.a. academic work, project management work, legal work, etc.
  • Knowledge of Ukraine's institutional system and political landscape.

Important information

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Visa: The working conditions and the status of the trainee in the host country should be in full conformity with the local legislation. Hence, maximal possible time to do the internship for EU citizens is restricted within 90 days (no visa required period) unless an EU citizen candidate already resides in Ukraine. The internship period shall be limited by the official term of such residency.  The Delegation cannot provide any visa support for a candidate who intends to do internship at the Delegation. Expatriate trainees have to register with their national Consulate or Embassy or any other resident diplomatic representation competent for their nationality.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
