Conference/seminarEU Financed Projects

The Ministry of Energy with the support of the European Union funded project “Increased Access to Electricity and Renewable Energy Production” (IAEREP) will be hosting an Energy & Gender workshop scheduled for 4th March, 2019 from 8:30 - 16:30 at the New Government Complex Lusaka

As part of the stakeholder engagement, the workshop will involve participation from the public and the private sector, civil society academia, international organisations and cooperating partners.

The objectives of the workshop are twofold. First, it seeks to validate an Energy Sector-wide Gender Assessment Report completed by the IAEREP project in 2018.  The gender assessment report provides an overview of what has been done to date in Zambia, the gaps and lessons learnt in terms of promoting gender equality and recommendations for the way forward. The report will be shared with registered participants prior to the workshop. Second, based on the findings of the report, the workshop aims at kick-starting a participatory process of developing an energy sector wide Gender Mainstreaming Strategy and Action Plan, to ensure that gender is mainstreamed adequately in the sector, that it is well-coordinated and has sufficient leadership and resources to be implemented well with strong measured results.

Kindly note that registration will be done on a first-come, first-served basis until the maximum venue's capacity is reached. The venue will be announced to the registered individuals together with the registration confirmation. Please feel free to distribute this notice to other relevant organizations or individuals.

RSVP: Please register your participation by 27th March 2019 latest by email to IAEREP.TA1@gmail.com with copy to fnakawala@gmail.com; ntachila@yahoo.com and victor.chingangu@moe.gov.zm
