Press Release on the outcome of the first Joint Commission on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear programme (19 October 2015)
Yesterday, 18 October, marked the Adoption Day of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear programme. Today, 19 October, the Joint Commission established under the JCPOA to oversee the implementation of the agreement held its inaugural meeting in Vienna.
The meeting, held at the level of Political Directors of JCPOA participating countries, was chaired by EEAS Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs Ms Helga Schmid. All members of the E3+3 - China, France, Germany, Russia, United Kingdom, United States - and Iran took part.
The Joint Commission took stock of the measures taken to date by the participating countries both on nuclear and on sanction related matters to begin the implementation of the JCPOA. It also discussed the Arak Reactor Modernization Project.
All participants expressed their continuing commitment to the swift implementation of the JCPOA. The Joint Commission will continue to monitor developments and will meet at Political directors' level on a quarterly basis, or earlier if requested, with the next meeting foreseen before implementation day .
