The EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, met today with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Diego Pary Rodríguez. They discussed the latest developments in EU-Bolivia relations and in the region.
High Representative Federica Mogherini and Foreign Minister Diego Pary Rodríguez acknowledged the good relations between the EU and Bolivia, which have been intensifying over the years regarding political contacts and financial cooperation. This was most recently underlined at the High Level Dialogue, which took place in November 2018.
In light of Bolivia holding the Pre-Tempore Presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), they discussed the EU-CELAC partnership.
The EU is closely following developments with regard to the Bolivian general elections, which are set to take place in October this year. Both sides stressed the importance of democracy, rule of law and the independence of the judiciary for the continued development of the country.
The High Representative and Foreign Minister also discussed the recent developments in the region, including the situation in Venezuela.
