The European Union supports the counter-narcotics policy of Turkmenistan

The European Union Liaison Office in Turkmenistan participated in the event of ceremonial destruction of seized narcotics and illegal substances held in Ahal Velayat on 8 December 2018, highlighting the continuous support of the counter-narcotics policy of Turkmenistan within the EU funded Central Asia Drug Action Program.

The Ministry of Interior and the State Coordination Commission on Combating Drug Addiction under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan organized on 8 December 2018 in Bagabat settlement of Ak Bugday etrap, Ahal Velayat event of destruction of seized narcotics and illegal substances. The event has been supported by the representatives of international partners accredited in Turkmenistan, including by the Liaison Office of the European Union.

The head of the EU Liaison Office Mr Frebort highlighted in his speech delivered at the event: "The European Union continues its long-term engagement with Turkmenistan and other Central Asian partners in support of further strengthening their national strategies in drug supply and drug demand reduction policies. The destruction of confiscated narcotics and illegal substances indicates the resolution of Turkmenistan's authorities to completely eliminate the problem of drug addiction and drug trafficking in this country".
