Traineeship for Students at the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam (January-July 2019)

TRAINEESHIP FOR STUDENTS

AT THE EU DELEGATION TO INDONESIA AND BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

Second Semester of Academic Year 2018-2019 (January-July 2019)

 

 

Are you a student interested in international relations?

Are you curious to learn more about work in a diplomatic mission and how an EU Delegation represents EU interests and values and develop bilateral relations with Indonesia?

 

What do we offer?

A traineeship of minimum 3 and maximum 6 months within the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam during the second semester of academic year 2018-2019 (1st January – 31st July 2019).

Based on their profile, motivation letters and proposed research project, the successful candidates will be assigned in one of the following sectors of activities of the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam:

  • Political, Press and Information
  • Public Diplomacy
  • Trade and Economics
  • Development Cooperation
  • Environment and Climate

 

Main tasks:

  • Support to monitoring, analysing and reporting on the political and economic situation in Indonesia, both on domestic and foreign and security developments; conducting research and drafting briefings;
  • Support to press, information and public diplomacy activities and projects;
  • Attend and report on external conferences and seminars as well as internal meetings of the Delegation to Indonesia and of the Mission to ASEAN;
  • In addition, each intern will carry out a specific research project on a theme relevant to the EU relations with Indonesia and ASEAN, to be delivered by the end of the traineeship.

 

How to apply?

In the absence of a generally applicable system of validation of traineeships in the higher education system in Indonesia, the EU Delegation has so far concluded an agreement with the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, a key member of the Indonesian Community for European Studies (ICES). Students that are enrolled in any other Indonesian University that validate traineeships through credits/ECTS in the student's curriculum may also directly apply to the EU Delegation.

 

For the academic year 2018-2019, applications should be sent by 1 November 2018:

 

  • For students enrolled in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, please send your detailed curriculum vitae,  motivational letter and a one-page description of your intended research project to:  hi@ugm.ac.id

 

  • For students enrolled in other Indonesian universities that validate traineeships through credits/ECTS in the student's curriculum please send your detailed curriculum vitae, motivational letter, a one-page description of your intended research project and the University's official request for a traineeship to the following email address:  DELEGATION-INDONESIA-INTERNSHIP@eeas.europa.eu

 

Students will be selected on the basis of their merits, motivation and intended research project.

 

Before applying you are requested to examine the general eligibility criteria for a compulsory traineeships (Article 9 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 - Unpaid compulsory traineeships for students already residing and studying in the host country).

All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, insurance, accommodation and living expenses must be borne by either the trainee or the University.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/ her candidacy will be rejected.
