Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met today in Brussels with the Foreign Minister of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry. They exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional issues, including current developments around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Syria, Libya, the Middle East Peace Process and the situation in Yemen and more widely in the Red Sea region.
One year after the adoption of the EU-Egypt Partnership Priorities in July 2017, the High Representative and the Foreign Minister took stock of the progress achieved, as well as remaining challenges. They agreed on the need to continue to strengthen dialogue and cooperation on all issues, with the view to address common challenges, promote joint interests and guarantee long-term stability on both sides of the Mediterranean.
