Women and Girls at Forefront of Sustainable Development: protect, empower, invest - European Development Days 2018

Under the overarching title of ‘Women and Girls at the Forefront of Sustainable Development: protect, empower, invest’, the European Development Days 2018 agenda will be framed by three major themes emerging as key priorities in today’s current context: 'Ensuring the physical and psychological integrity of Girls and Women', 'Promoting economic and social rights and empowerment of Girls and Women', 'Strengthening Girls’ and Women’s voice and participation'.

The European Development Days (EDD), on 5-6 June, are a unique opportunity to engage with many of our key stakeholders from Brussels and around the world. 

The EEAS will be actively participating with:

  1. A special event on Youth with High Representative Federica Mogherini: "Leading the Change: Young leaders driving equality worldwide" - Follow 
  2. A High Level Panel on Women, Peace and Security, which the EEAS Secretary General Helga Schmid will attend: "Time to act! – High-level panel on Women, Peace and Security" - Follow 
  3. A "LAB" debate on "Security for development; development for security: Shaping the EU's new civilian security instruments to promote resilient and gender equal societies", with the paritcipation of Mara Marinaki, EEAS Principal Advisor on Gender and UNSCR 1325
  4. A "LAB" debate on LGBTI: "Making sure EU development cooperation leaves no one behind
  5. "LAB" debates organised by partners with EEAS involvement on
  6. Two stands in the Global Village focusing on human rights and security
