The visit is fully in line with the reinforced engagement on security and defence issues outlined in the EU Counter-terrorism Strategy adopted by Council Conclusions on June 2017, as well as in the Western Balkans Strategy adopted by the European Commission on February 2018.

The visit was the last of a series of similar missions organised in the Western Balkans with the aim of strengthening cooperation with the region on the fight against terrorism, prevention of violent extremism and the fight against organised crime.
