High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini travels to Toronto for G7 Foreign Ministers' meeting

On Sunday 22 and Monday 23 April, the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini will be in Toronto, Canada, to participate in the G7 Foreign Ministers' meeting.
The focus of discussions over the two days will be on the most pressing international issues of the day, including on Syria, just ahead of the second Brussels Conference on Supporting the future of Syria and the Region, which will be co-chaired by the European Union and the United Nations on 24-25 April. G7 Ministers will also discuss the conflict in Ukraine and how to support Ukraine's reform efforts, having met earlier with the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, as well as relations with Russia, on which EU Foreign Ministers re-affirmed the EU's approach at the most recent Foreign Affairs Council. The situation in Iraq, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Iran, and the situation on the Korean Peninsula will be addressed, in light of recent developments, as will AfricaChinaMyanmar, and Venezuela.
Thematic topics for discussion include human mobility, maritime security, non-proliferation and disarmament, counter-terrorism and countering violent extremism, cyber, conflict prevention, support for the UN, reinforcing democracy, and empowering women.
The G7 Ministers are expected to adopt a Communiqué covering the outcome of the meeting. High Representative Mogherini is expected to have a number of bilateral meetings in the margins of the G7. Coverage will be provided by Europe by Satellite
