Young leaders and experts from Europe and Southeast Asia to discuss common challenges
21/02/2018 - 14:53
Young professionals and experts will gather in Brussels, for the EU-ASEAN Young Leaders Forum on 26 February 2018 and the EU-ASEAN Strategic Thinkers Forum on 28 February 2018.
The European Union and The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) - two of the world's most advanced examples of regional integration - have been working together to deepen their relationship for four decades. Now it's time to look ahead to the next challenges and take EU-ASEAN relations to an even higher level. Citizens from both regions must have a say in this reflection as the success of the EU and ASEAN depends on them too and, in turn, affects their lives, their families and communities. It is good to have this reflection together to confront ideas and perspectives; people-to-people contacts are a pillar of EU-ASEAN relations.
Young leaders and experts will have the opportunity to share their perspectives at a Public Debate on EU-ASEAN relations that will be held on 27 February, bridging the two meetings.
Both groups will submit informal recommendations to the 22nd ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting that will take place later this year in Europe.
