Launching of the training programme in " Conservation and Management of Heritage Sites" of Asmara Heritage Project

On Monday, 6 November 2017, the Head of the European Union to the State of Eritrea, Mr Josep Coll participated in the opening of the training programme in " Conservation and Management of Heritage Sites", organised by  the Asmara Heritage Project (AHP) and the Zoba Maekel in  the framework of the EU cofounded project " Capacity building for safeguarding Asmara's historic urban environment". The training will take place for four weeks and will target engineers, urban planners, technicians, students from technical schools, local skilled and semi-skilled workers and different experts working in the construction and restoration sector.

The training is organised in cooperation with the University Politecnico di Milano, Department of Architecture and Urban studies, co-applicant of the project.

The EU-funded action aims at valorising Asmara's heritage, which is unique in the world and has recently been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. AHP has been working for several years to preserve Asmara's cultural heritage and modernist architecture. The European Union’s contribution to the project is approximately EUR 300,000.00.
