Good afternoon. It was a pleasure and an honour for me to welcome here in Brussels the Minister, with whom we are not only very good colleagues but also friends, since not such a long time but still with frequent meetings we have had on different occasions: in bilateral meetings and always at the margins of summits. And it was a great pleasure for me to host here in Brussels today our formal Council, our formal Ministerial meeting, where we had the chance of discussing all issues we have on the agenda: our internal situations, political and economic in Mexico and in the European Union; our regional concerns and developments, both around the European Union and in Latin America and the Caribbean.

We discussed the preparation of the EU-CELAC summit that we will have in Brussels in June, and we are looking forward to welcome you again with the President in Brussels in June, for what I believe will be an excellent chance to re-launch the EU-Latin America and Caribbean relations at the highest political level.

And we also agreed on common initiatives and common actions on main global issues that see us working exactly in the same direction. In particular on climate change: our cooperation in view of the Paris conference is extremely strong and I would like to thank Mexico for the leading role it has taken in this respect, as well as our common work in the UN system and on the Post 2015 Agenda.  But we also had the chance of coordinating action and initiatives on a whole set of actions from security cooperation to the non-proliferation agenda and obviously our bilateral relations that we count on strengthening even more in the coming weeks.

Mr Minister I give you the floor.
