Clean Energy Plan for Trinidad and Tobago

The European Union recently completed an assignment in support of the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, through a technical assistance project, on the development of a Renewable Energy Roadmap for 2021 to 2030.  This Plan is in line with the country's National Determined Contributions to create a long term sustainable policy and vision and reflects the signed Paris Agreement.

The Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency Roadmap & Implementation Plan identifies a range of options that the Government can take in the identification of the optimum pathway in the deployment of renewables up to 2030.   It also describes in detail the elements required to create the necessary enabling environment.

A Final Draft of the Plan was officially handed over to the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries in a ceremony that took place on September 15th.  This  follows the initial presentation of the Road Map at the Clean Energy Conference co-organized by the Energy Chamber, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Planning and the European Union this past June.
