Federica Mogherini meets with Dragan Čović, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the Commission, met this afternoon with Dragan Čović, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on his first day after taking over the role.

As demonstrated during the Stabilisation and Association Council on 10 July and the Western Balkans Summit in Trieste on 12 July, the High Representative reaffirmed the strong commitment of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its EU integration perspective.

The accession process will however depend upon the pace of reforms in the country. In this regard the Reform Agenda, the adoption of the excise legislation as well as the rapid signature of the Treaty on the establishment of the Transport Community are of utmost importance.

The Reform Agenda needs a new momentum both at State and Entity level, in particular in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is to be implemented in a continuous and effective way. Implementation of outstanding commitments reflects political will and determination to move the country forward.
