Each EU mission works in the framework of a comprehensive approach. The mission works in agreement and coordination with the EU Delegations in the same area and in the framework of EU regional policies.
Following an invitation from the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini, the European Union is undertaking a "diplomatic watch" to visit some of the polling stations during the Eswatini's main elections to be held on 21 September 2018.
On 12 September, on the occasion of his State of the Union Address, President Jean-Claude Juncker said: "Africa does not need charity, it needs true and fair partnership. And we, Europeans need this partnership just as much. Today, we are proposing a new Alliance for Sustainable Investment and Jobs between Europe and Africa. This Alliance, as we envision it, would help create up to 10 million jobs in Africa in the next 5 years alone. I believe we should develop the numerous EU-African trade agreements into a continent-to-continent free trade agreement, as an economic partnership between equals."
On 26 July 2018, European Union Ambassador, Esmeralda Hernandez Aragones, visited a number of rural communities in the northern part of Eswatini where the EU is supporting 90 Neighbourhood Care Points (NCPs) which act as feeding centres for more than 3 000 vulnerable children in the country. Most of these children are pre-school going.
At a public ceremony in Mbabane on 19 July 2018, a EUR 36.4 million (approx. SZL 520 million) loan agreement was signed between the European Investment Bank and the Ministry of Finance of Eswatini, in support of phase two of the Lower Usuthu Smallholder Irrigation Project (LUSIP II) being developed by the Swaziland Water and Agricultural Development Enterprise (SWADE).
Friday, 06 July 2018, saw the launch of the Eswatini National Curriculum Framework for General Education in the kingdom, a project that seeks to introduce competency-based education in the country.
