The EU established a mission to observe the legislative elections held in Kosovo on 8 June 2014. This mission was led by Roberto Gualtieri, a member of the European Parliament.

The mission’s core team of eight EU election analysts, based in Pristina, analysed the legal framework, the work of the election administration, campaign activities, the conduct of the media, the voting and the counting, the tallying of votes, the complaints and appeals process, and the announcement of the results. In addition to this team, 62 observers were deployed across Kosovo. Election-day observation was reinforced further by observers from diplomatic representations of EU Member States.

The EU Election Observation Mission is an independent and neutral body whose mandate is to assess the election process against international election standards. More than 100 elections were observed in the past 10 years according to a standard long-term methodology.

The mission’s reports are available in English, Albanian and Serbian. Only the English report is the official version.
