Current EU assistance

EU assistance – €7.4 million since 2000 under the European Development Fund – will concentrate on sustainable and self-sufficient energy supply, mainly through renewables and energy efficiency, in particular:

  • creating grid-connected photovoltaic electricity production systems
  • running extensive energy efficiency campaigns
  • supporting the formulation of a national energy policy.

Additional focus on:

  • disaster risk reduction – constructing and operating the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) control centre in Koror.
  • environmental protection.
