Cayman Islands and the EU

The Cayman islands are “British Overseas Territories” whose development cooperation with the EU is based on Article 182 of the Treaty of Rome.

The value of trade between EU and the Cayman islands has been increasing over the years.

Due to their high GNP per capita, the Cayman Islands are not eligible for allocations under the European Development Fund (EDF).

However they do qualify for non-programmed aid for a variety of projects.

Consultations involving NGOs, residents and government officials are regularly held when selecting projects for EU funding.
