On Thursday, 15 December 2016, the 16th meeting of Platform 4 "Contacts between people" took place in Brussels in order to discuss issues related to education, youth, culture, research and innovation.
The meeting was chaired by Directorate General for Education and Culture and was attended by six Eastern Partnership countries, Member States, EEAS, key Commission DGs such as DG NEAR, DG RTD, DG CONNECT, DG EMPL and other international partners. The meeting served to review activities since the last Platform meeting in June 2016 and provide updates on key EU programmes i.e. Erasmus+, Eastern Partnership EU4Youth, Horizon2020, Creative Europe.
The specific focus of this Platform meeting was youth. The meeting gave an opportunity to present EU youth initiatives, exchange good practices in the field of young people's non-formal learning, mobility, civic engagement and employability. The meeting helped identify the main challenges and recommendations for further work. It was also an opportunity to look towards the next Eastern Partnership Summit of Heads of State in 2017 and discuss the contribution that Platform 4 activities can make in preparations for the Summit.
