The European Union congratulates the Kyrgyz Republic on the 25th anniversary of its declaration of national independence

BRUSSELS, 31 August 2016 - The European Union has strongly supported the democratic transformation process in the Kyrgyz Republic. With the aspirations and needs of the Kyrgyz people firmly in mind, the EU is committed to a long-term relationship for the development, stability and security of the country, on the basis of our Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and the EU's Central Asia Strategy.

We look forward to this year's EU-Central Asia Foreign Ministers' Meeting on 4 October in Brussels, which will be chaired by the High Representative/Vice-President, Federica Mogherini. The meeting is an important symbol of our strong and end.
