Federica Mogherini, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met on Wednesday with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Salahuddin Rabbani, in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly Ministerial Week in New York.
Two weeks ahead of the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan, to be co-hosted in Brussels by the European Union and Afghanistan, the HRVP and the Foreign Minister discussed the state of play of preparations and agreed on the need to finalise as soon as possible any outstanding issues related to the preparation of the BCA.
Both the High Representative and the Foreign Minister expressed their belief that the conference will confirm continued international support and engagement in Afghanistan's political and economic stability and development over the coming years.
