The EU welcomes today’s swearing-in of the renewed Council of Ministers and the Sovereign Council, as stipulated by the Juba Peace Agreement.
We encourage the new Transitional Government of Sudan to accelerate the country’s political and economic reform agenda as well as to progress further with the implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement. These aspects require the various Sudanese political factions to work together constructively for the greater good of the Sudanese people who have been hardly hit by the dire and deteriorating economic situation. The EU deems essential that a political agreement will be reached swiftly between the different Sudanese stakeholders allowing for the establishment of the Transitional Legislative Council.
The European Union will continue to support the country’s political and economic transition, which offers a unique opportunity to work towards a peaceful, democratic and prosperous Sudan.
