On March 17, the Republic of Uzbekistan has received 660,000 doses of the first vaccines against COVID-19 shipped via the COVAX Facility. The European Union and European Member States congratulated Uzbekistan on the arrival at the airport. The first 660,000 doses of vaccines that arrived today are the first large lot available in the country. They will enable launching the national vaccination campaign in the coming days. In total, the COVAX program will deliver 2.2 million doses to Uzbekistan, enough to vaccinate a quarter of the people in the priority list, including the health care workers and the elderly people at risk. The first shipment is a cornerstone in the fight against the pandemic and a sign of solidarity in action with Uzbekistan from Team Europe.
