Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, held a phone call today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Chrystia Freeland.

Following their meeting a week ago in Singapore, in the margins of ASEAN Regional Forum, they exchanged views on recent global developments. They decided to intensify their cooperation and common work in all fields of action, including on human rights where both the European Union and Canada are leading promoters of the universal respect of fundamental rights and freedoms among them womens’ rights.

Federica Mogherini and Chrystia Freeland also finalised preparations for the Women Foreign Ministers' Meeting that they will co-chair in Montreal on 21-22 September
