Statement by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini following her call with the leader of SDSM Zoran Zaev

07.04.2016
Text

"Following the latest developments in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, in particular the preparations for the early parliamentary elections in June, I spoke this afternoon with the leader of SDSM Zoran Zaev. In the call that followed several other contacts by Commissioner Johannes Hahn and the EU Delegation in Skopje, we agreed on the need for all political parties to continue to work together to ensure credible elections, in the interest of the country and its citizens. In this respect, the implementation of the political agreements, including urgent reform priorities, is of paramount importance. Together with the US, we have collectively supported all parties and stakeholders in these efforts and we will continue to do so in the coming, crucial weeks. We call on all parties to remain fully committed to the agreed process.”
