EUNAVFOR ASPIDES: Hellenic Deputy Minister of National Defense Visits Operational Headquarters
Mr. Davakis was accompanied by Lieutenant General (EL-A) Stavros Papastathopoulos, Commander of the Hellenic 1st Army. Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Commander of EUNAVFOR ASPIDES, Rear Admiral (FR-N) Frédéric Bordier.
During the visit, Rear Admiral Bordier and the OHQ provided a comprehensive operational briefing on the mission, structure, and current activities of EUNAVFOR ASPIDES. The visit served as an important opportunity to underscore the strategic relevance of the operation and highlight Greece's central role in its success.
The Deputy Minister toured the operational facilities and was familiarized with the coordination mechanisms and command structure highlighting the mission's effectiveness. As part of the engagement, a video teleconference was conducted with the Commander of EUNAVFOR ASPIDES, Rear Admiral Vasileios Gryparis (HN), who is currently embarked aboard the HS PSARA, visiting ASPIDES’s Forces in the Area of Operations. The discussion provided a valuable opportunity to present the objectives and mandate of Operation ASPIDES, exchange views on the regional security environment, and further reinforce the close connection between strategic leadership ashore and operational execution afloat.
The visit underscored the enduring commitment of the Hellenic Republic to the objectives of EUNAVFOR ASPIDES and highlighted the essential role of multinational cooperation in safeguarding maritime security.
