Second CIMIC Programme comes-to a end

Maputo, Mozambique – The second Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Programme, developed by the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ), officially ended today, with a closing ceremony held at the Higher Insitute for Defence Studies (ISEDEF) in Maputo.  

For four weeks, more than 30 military personnel from the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM), strengthen their capacities of the CIMIC application in field and practical situations. The participants completed two main modules, acquiring the knowledge on the Doctrine, Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and then applied it in practical examples, culminating in a Final Exercise.  The were ministrate by the two EUMAM MOZ members from the J9 team. 

The closing ceremony was presided by a representant of the FADM General Staff, Brigadier General Abel Zicai David, the EUMAM MOZ Mission Force Commander, Brigadier General Luís Barroso, and the Emissary of the Commander of the ISEDEF, Commodore Patrick Luis Enessi.

After the FADM participants received their certificates of conclusion of the programme, the entities who presided the ceremony reinforced the importance of the role of CIMIC in service for the people and population affected by terrorism and war, highlighting that the partnerships in progress should reflect not only in more knowledge acquired but also more capability to be aware of the mozabicans needs.

EUMAM MOZ is a non-executive mission, with a mandate until june of 2026, that supports the FADM. The aim is to improve the sustainability of Mozambique`s Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) embedding them in a robust and autonomous operational cycle. The mission has more than 80 miilitary personnel from 11 nationalities and it is commanded by portuguese Brigadier General Luís Barroso.
