Portuguese Ambassador in Mozambique rewarded by EUMAM MOZ

Maputo, Mozambique - In the context of the celebration of the day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) marked the date with a ceremony where the Portuguese Ambassador, António Costa Moura, was rewarded at the EUMAM MOZ headquarters.  

Last Tuesday, 10th of June, in a ceremony where was present the European Union Ambassador in Mozambique, Antonino Maggiore, and the EUMAM MOZ Force Commander, Brigadier General Luís Barroso, in recognition for the good relations and cooperation between the EUMAM MOZ and the Portuguese Embassy, António Costa Moura was rewarded with the European Union Common Security and Defence Policy Service Medal for his services and the insurmountable collaboration with the European Union mission.

On his speech the Portuguese Ambassador highlighted the importance of the commitment to the European Union, personified in the Portuguese military personnel contingent, and also the common values shared between Portugal and Mozambique that benefit from an historic heritage with more than five centuries of relationship, allowing nowadays work towards common progress.

EUMAM MOZ is a non-executive mission, with a mandate until June 2026 and focusses on the operation training cycle and maintenance, while also conducting specialized training to enable the FADM to be self-sufficient, in fighting the insurgency.
