J6 Branch: The Digital Backbone of EUMAM MOZ

Maputo, Mozambique – The J6 Branch plays a fundamental role within the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ), ensures that all communications and information systems remain efficient, secure and fully aligned with the mission’s operational goals.

Know the team: 

Led by OF-3 Renato Rocha, he manages all aspects of Command, Control, Communications and Computer (C4) systems, including network administration, information security and cyber defence coordination. His work guarantees that EUMAM MOZ maintains reliable and protected digital networks across all areas of operation and has also contributed to the ACE programmes, delivering classes in Communications and Information Systems, helping Mozambican trainees develop technical knowledge and self-reliance in managing modern communication systems.

OR-8 Adam Lambert maintains and secures the mission’s communication systems. He also assists the FADM in improving their communication infrastructure at the Administrative Command Elements (ACE) and Department of Resupply and Transport (SRT) at Maputo and the Special Forces Administrative Command (CAFE) in Catembe Base, contributing to stronger and more sustainable national capabilities.

OR-7 Joel Moreira oversees the daily management of the mission’s IT infrastructure. He is responsible for all administrative processes within the branch and ensures the effective and secure control of communications assets and mobile communication contracts. He also provides user support to all EUMAM personnel and manages the mission’s SharePoint platform, ensuring effective information sharing and collaboration.

In recent months, the J6 Branch has supported the FADM Communications and Information Systems (CSI) team in configuring computers, providing technical advice on operating systems and software installation. This initiative has strengthened the FADM’s digital capabilities and reinforced cooperation between FADM and EUMAM MOZ.  

Currently, the branch is working on several projects to upgrade the mission’s in this area, introducing new technology with higher bandwidth and improved performance to enhance connectivity and overall operational efficiency.
