EUMAM MOZ Welcomes Visit from Portugal’s Directorate-General for National Defence Policy

The delegation, led by Lieutenant General Lemos Pires, Director-General for National Defence Policy, was received by the Mission Force Commander, Commodore César Correia.

During the visit, Lieutenant General Lemos Pires attended a briefing on the work carried out by EUMAM MOZ, where the current situation of the mission and its main future challenges in supporting the Mozambique Defence Armed Forces (FADM) were presented.

Lieutenant General Lemos Pires acknowledged the remarkable work carried out by EUMAM MOZ, highlighted the cooperation among the European Union Member States, particularly with Portugal, and underlined the importance of this mission in reinforcing cohesion, strategic alignment, and the shared commitment to the security and stability of the region.

The European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique is a non-executive mission, with a mandate in force until June 2026. The mission is composed of 83 military personnel of 12 different nationalities.
