EUMAM MOZ ends Administrative Command Elements Programme at FADM’s Institute
Leading the ceremony was the ISEDEF Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Moisés Cau, joined by the Mission Force Commander (MFCdr) of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ), Brigadier General Luís Barroso.
The ACE, directly supervised by the Mozambican Chief of Defense, is responsible for managing the regeneration, training, and maintenance of the Quick Reaction Forces (QRFs) and Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) teams previously trained by the European Union Training Mission in Mozambique, as well as controlling and maintaining their equipment.
During the last six weeks, the 25 officers who attended the ACE programme had the opportunity to explore and deepen knowledge that is crucial to the development of their command-and-control skills.

The ISEDEF Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Moisés Cau, congratulated the attendees for the success obtained on the course and highlighted that “the role they now assume has a strategic relevance for the future of military operations in Mozambique”.
The main objectives of the programme, which were successfully achieved, were to enhance FADM’s decision-making process skills and General Staff procedures.
Throughout the programme, fundamental topics were covered such as the structure of ACEs and QRFs, staff techniques, military decision-making process, exercise planning, as well as special advising on different subjects. All these elements, covered during the lessons, were put into practice in the Command Post Exercise, that was carried out with great success due to the commitment of the attendees.

During the ceremony, EUMAM MOZ’s MFCdr emphasised the importance of continuing the assistance with a second edition of the ACE programme, ensuring that FADM personnel is always prepared to continue to implement the ACE’s objectives. Brigadier General Barroso said that “we have to focus on the future of the mission and on future collaboration between FADM and EUMAM MOZ, that nowadays is a short and medium time cooperation, but we expect it to have a long-time impact”.
EUMAM MOZ is a non-executive mission, with a mandate until June 2026 and focusses on the operational training cycle and maintenance, while also conducting specialised training to enable the FADM to be self-sufficient in fighting the insurgency in Cabo Delgado.
