Maputo, Mozambique – As part of the celebration of the Mozambican Women’s Day, that will be celebrated on the 7th April 2025, the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) took part in a Civil and Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activity with the HIXIKANWE Association.

HIXIKANWE Association is a Non-Governmental Organisation, led by women living with HIV and has played a key role in areas such as treatment and prevention, economic empowerment and psychosocial support for all women and children living with HIV.

In the face of limited external support, HIXIKANWE is currently undergoing a challenging period. To contribute to this vital organisation, which has such a significant impact on many lives, EUMAM MOZ assembled as many contributions as possible to support these women and children. In addition to a refrigerator, delivered a few weeks ago, the mission, represented by the Chief of the Advisory Group, Italian Navy Captain Marco Maccaroni, also delivered food and a speaker with microphones. This activity also had the participation of military personnel from the Department of Civic and Patriotic Education of the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces.

Engaging in initiatives like this is essential for fostering solidarity and support within communities, especially for those facing severe challenges. Such activities not only provide immediate aid but also help raise awareness of the ongoing struggles that many women and children encounter, especially the ones living with HIV.

EUMAM MOZ is composed by 83 military and civilian personnel from 10 European Union member states, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Spain and one non-European Union member state, Serbia.
