INAUGURATION OF THE MAISON JUSTICE IN MOPTI: A STRONG RESPONSE TO THE CALL FOR LOCAL JUSTICE

The city of Mopti hosted in 19 June 2025 the official inauguration of the Maison Justice, a landmark event for the region and for the Malian judicial system. This project, jointly led by the Malian Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and the EU civilian mission EUCAP Sahel Mali, is a significant step in the quest to make justice more accessible for citizens in remote areas and tailored to local realities.

The building includes seminar rooms and fully equipped offices as well as secure rest areas for magistrates on duty. For judicial training purposes, the Maison Justice will also host a local branch of the National Institute of Judicial Training "Maître Demba Diallo".

The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Justice, Mamoudou Kassogué, administrative and judicial authorities, local authorities, ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from EU Member States.

He expressed the government’s gratitude to the Mission for its constant support, from the design to the completion of the project. He highlighted the strategic scope of this infrastructure, which will serve not only as a working and professional training centre for justice professionals, but also as a point of convergence between the northern and southern regions, thus consolidating the presence of the state administration in the area.

The Minister also stressed the unprecedented nature of this investment, amounting to 1.3 M€, the first of its kind in Mali.
