This second iteration, part of the EUBAM Libya project "Hands-on training on specific laboratory techniques and observe advanced forensic laboratory practices and equipment at the University of Tor Vergata – Rome," was made possible through a collaborative working arrangement between the University's Department of Biomedicine and Prevention and EUBAM Libya.
This initiative supports the ongoing development of the Libyan Ministry of Interior’s forensic laboratories in Tripoli, Benghazi, and Sabha. The trained experts will contribute directly to high-priority investigations, including victim identification following the Derna floods and of mass graves discovered in Kufra and Sabha.
The activities included the collection, preservation and analysis of forensic evidence, as well as the interpretation of such evidence in the context of criminal investigation.

Witnessing the dedication of these professionals, including the strong participation of women, as they delve into the complexities of genetics, toxicology, and anthropology, reinforces our unwavering commitment to supporting Libya's capacity to conduct thorough and credible criminal investigations.”
On the final day of the training, the group of participants visited the exhibition “The Truth in the Traces – More than 120 Years of Forensic Police,” hosted at the Galleria Alberto Sordi in Rome. The visit provided participants with valuable insight into the evolution, current practices, and innovations in forensic investigation.
EUBAM Libya looks forward to the upcoming third training that will take place in May 2025, further solidifying this vital cooperation.
