Fighting cross-border crime: High-Level Libyan delegation visits Europol for the first time

Crime knows no borders. EUBAM connects Libyan law enforcement institutions with Europol.  The EU Border Assistance Mission will continue support for EU-Libyan partnership in countering transnational crime.

Europol welcomed a high-level delegation from Libya to its headquarters in The Hague for an official visit, marking the first time that senior Libyan representatives have engaged directly with the Agency in this format.

The visit brought together senior officials from Libyan law enforcement institutions and relevant ministries, providing an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and build mutual understanding with Europol and European partners. It reflects a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in addressing common security challenges, particularly in the context of transnational and cross-border crime.

EUBAM Libya played a key facilitating role in organising and supporting this engagement, underscoring its mandate to promote cooperation between Libya and the European Union in integrated border management and security. Building on this milestone, EUBAM Libya will continue to support Libyan authorities in strengthening police cooperation with Europol and EU Member States, including through improved coordination.

This first official visit represents an important step towards deeper engagement and sustained partnership between Libya and European law enforcement actors, contributing to joint efforts to combat cross-border crime and enhance regional security.
