EU Observers rebuff unsubstantiated fraud discours

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) continues to follow the tabulation of votes in the presidential run-off in Peru, which is being conducted in accordance with legal provisions. The EU EOM has found no indications of intentional manipulation at any stage of the process, and calls on stakeholders to respect the outcome of the electoral process and the will of the voters.

The EU EOM urges political figures to honour the decisions of the relevant authorities, avoid statements that undermine the legitimacy of the electoral process, and adhere to the principles of the Ethical Pact. This includes using the established legal mechanisms for challenging results. The EU EOM also urges the electoral authorities to announce the final results as soon as possible and to resolve any challenges to the results promptly.

Further details of the EU EOM’s preliminary findings can be found in the preliminary statements published on 14 April and 9 June. The EU EOM will present its final report and recommendations in mid-August.
