Mr. Schieder is leading the EU Election Observation Mission to Liberia 2023. During his first day in Monrovia, he was welcomed and briefed by the EU EOM Liberia Core Team. Later on, he had the chance to meet the chairwoman and co-chairwoman of the National Elections Commission (NEC) of Liberia and the commissioners. During his three-day visit, he has meetings and round-table discussions with several stakeholders, civil society groups, media and candidates. A press conference on Friday will conclude his first visit. Before election day on 10 October, Mr. Schieder will be back in Liberia and observe the General Elections, which brings the number of EU Observers to around 100.
