EU Deploys 120 Observers for Bolivia’s General Elections

As part of its commitment to strengthening democracy in the country, the European Union has deployed 120 observers across Bolivia’s nine departments. A delegation from the European Parliament composed of seven representatives from different political groups has joined the Mission. In addition, members of EU member states’ diplomatic missions present in Bolivia are also taking part in the observation.
According to electoral law, a candidate may win in the first round if he secures more than 50% of the votes or at least 40% with a 10-point lead over the runner-up. Otherwise, a runoff will be held on October 19. The elected president will assume office on November 8, 2025, and remain in power until November 2030.
EU observers collect their findings using standardized digital forms, ensuring a uniform and objective collection of data. These forms are sent to the Core Team in La Paz, where they are analyzed.
